PROFESSIONAL LEARNING
ABOUT
Our understanding of teaching as an innovative design process shapes the work we do with teachers. Professional learning has traditionally been viewed as originating from top down mandates that minimally fulfill compliance and accountability requirements. Our approach is to center PK-12 teachers as autonomous learners, experiencing the same phenomena, activities, and processes as their students. By positioning them as co-designers of learning experiences for themselves and the students they serve, teachers can experience deep and lasting growth as professionals and improve educational outcomes for all students.
OUR PROCESS
Collaborative Design
Together we identify and define partnership goals, strategies, and deliverables based on mutual trust, respect, and ongoing reciprocity.
Professional Learning
We provide professional learning that positions educators as learners through active, playful opportunities to deepen their content understanding and learn through engagement and reflection.
Implementation & Sustainability
Through face-to-face coaching, video clubs, and pedagogical conversations, we build communities of practice that support capacity to implement, scale, and sustain innovation for individual and collective growth.
OUTCOMES OF OUR PARTNERSHIPS
Co-developed resources for engaged student learning
Strategic vertical articulation between grade levels
Asset-based views of student thinking and understanding
Increased confidence in math and science teaching
Student conceptual understanding of STEAM domains that sustains growth
Deeper understanding of content standards and practices
Bridged connections between home and school resources
Coaching
Personalized Support for Educators
Coaching visits focus on observation and feedback to support lesson planning, organizing curricular activities, adapting to children’s understandings, and formative assessment strategies.
Co-designed STEAM Activity Implementation
From Concept to Classroom
We help co-design, plan, and implement a classroom STEAM learning experience for classrooms. Support includes a co-design and planning meeting, materials to support student engagement, and co-facilitation along with your staff.
Specialized Facilitation
Supporting Coding Clubs
We collaborate with Coding Club teachers to provide professional learning and support focused on micro:bit exploration. These sessions build community among teachers, give them the opportunity to unbox and explore the micro:bit hardware, and introduce the various challenges to extend participant learning.
