Beyond the Flat Card: Designing Interactive Paper Creations

How can we turn 2D materials into 3D engineering projects?

Explore the creative possibilities where art meets technology! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll combine 3-D paper engineering, textiles, and simple circuits to design interactive, light-up greeting cards. Experiment with pop-up structures, fabric and stitching, and LED lights to create a card that’s both artistic and interactive.

What you’ll learn:

  • Learn the basics of paper circuits and how to create a switch.

  • Experiment with pop-up strategies and 3D paper engineering.

  • Integrate hand sewing and embroidery

  • Build a finished greeting card(s) to take home.
