Pulling Threads: Creating with Fiber

How can you transform yarn, string, and thread into unique works of art?

Explore the creative possibilities of fiber, yarn, and thread. Participants will experiment with different techniques such as knotting yarn into a colorful bracelet, looping string on a circular loom, and exploring coding to create a digital design to be stitched with an embroidery machine. 

 

 

Objectives

  • Create a yarn bracelet using straws as a simple loom.

  • Use a circular loom and yarn to create unique string art designs.

  • Explore coding and stitching by creating designs for an embroidery machine.
